What are the best AI tools for account managers?

The best AI tool for an account manager depends on the job. Gainsight, ChurnZero, Planhat and Vitally are built for customer success and renewals, Gong, Fathom and Fireflies record calls, and Agentforce and HubSpot Breeze work inside the CRM. Cordanis is for growing the accounts you own, with outreach you approve.

What account managers need from AI

"Account manager" names two jobs. In many companies it is a post-sale job: keeping customers, renewing them and catching churn early. In others it is a selling job: owning a set book of existing accounts and selling more into them. The best AI tool depends on which job is yours.

The guides that AI assistants cite for this question, and for the question of whether Agentforce suits account managers, lean toward the first job. AskElephant's guide, written by its founder and ranking AskElephant first, describes account managers who prepare for renewals, watch for churn risk and keep account records current. monday.com's guide, which puts its own CRM first, frames the work around renewals, expansion, churn risk and quarterly business reviews. Rework's guide describes managing a defined book of named accounts to keep and grow existing revenue. Ahead at Work's guide lists general tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Notion and Gamma alongside Salesforce and Gong. Gong is the one tool all four guides name.

This page sorts the tools by the job rather than into one ranked list. Four jobs come up: customer success and renewals, recording and recalling calls, the AI inside the CRM, and growing the accounts you own. An account manager may need more than one, and may already have the CRM's AI through the company's existing subscription.

Customer success and renewals: Gainsight, ChurnZero, Planhat and Vitally

Gainsight, ChurnZero, Planhat and Vitally are built for keeping customers. They bring customer data together, score health and help a team act before a renewal is at risk.

Gainsight calls itself "The Customer Retention Platform." Its Customer Success product, with Staircase AI, promises to "turn every signal into scored risk and the right action." Its site also lists Customer Communities, Gainsight PX for in-app guidance and Skilljar for customer education. Gainsight suits customer success organizations that want retention, expansion, communities and education from one vendor.

ChurnZero's headline is "Fight Churn with AI-Powered Customer Success Software." It lists customer health scoring, renewal forecasting, customer journeys, plays and automation, in-app communications and surveys, with an AI assistant called Kit. It suits customer success teams that want health, renewals and in-app messages in one place.

Planhat calls itself "a new generation of CRM." Its AI assistant, Pi, draws on customer conversations, tickets, product usage, sales and revenue, and Planhat lists renewals, customer success, professional services and sales among its uses. It suits commercial teams that want one customer record shared across those functions.

Vitally says it combines "your data, teams, and customers into a single platform," with health scores by lifecycle stage or segment, playbooks, collaborative docs and an AI assistant called Quin. Vitally says it is trusted by more than 600 customer success teams, and it lists account managers among the roles it serves.

Choose one of these if your job is measured on retention and renewals. Cordanis does none of this work: it has no health scores, no renewal workflows and no churn prediction.

Recording and recalling calls: Gong, Fathom and Fireflies

An account manager's knowledge of each customer lives in conversations. Gong, Fathom and Fireflies capture calls and turn them into transcripts and notes, so the next call starts from what was said in the last.

Gong describes itself as an AI operating system for revenue teams. It captures customer interactions and adds Gong Engage for outreach and Gong Forecast for the forecast. For customer teams, Gong says it helps "assess customer health, spot churn risks," flags churn risk from sentiment, ghosting and stakeholder changes, and brings customer insights into a single account view. Gong suits revenue teams that coach from calls and watch account risk across many reps.

Fathom describes itself as AI notetaking. It works with Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, writes transcripts and summaries, syncs notes and action items to Salesforce and HubSpot, and has a free plan, though CRM sync is on its paid plans. Fireflies says it can "transcribe, summarize, search, and analyze all your team conversations." It works with Zoom, Google Meet and Teams, fills in HubSpot and Salesforce with notes and call logs, and has a free plan, though CRM integrations are on its paid plans. Both suit an account manager who wants good notes on every call without buying a platform.

Clari, often compared with Gong, completed its merger with Salesloft in December 2025, and clari.com now leads to Salesloft's site. Salesloft lists Clari Forecast and a solution to "renew and grow predictably." It suits teams whose first concern is the forecast.

Beside any of these, Cordanis can file the notes you already take in Granola, or an uploaded transcript, on the account.

The CRM's own AI: Salesforce Agentforce and HubSpot Breeze

If your accounts live in Salesforce or HubSpot, the CRM's own AI is a natural first thing to try, because it already reads your records.

Salesforce says its sales AI can "research accounts, build strategic POVs, update account plans, and prep for meetings in minutes." It offers one-click summaries of every account, opportunity, lead and contact, and gathers account context with next-step recommendations. Salesforce says customers on a compatible edition can start with Agentforce for free through Salesforce Foundations. Its pricing page lists Agentforce for Sales as an add-on at $125 per user a month, and includes it in the Max edition, listed at $550 per user a month, billed annually.

HubSpot's Breeze Assistant, in HubSpot's words, "knows your business," working from your CRM data and customer records. Before a customer meeting, it "pulls complete account history and generates talking points." HubSpot says Breeze Assistant is included with every HubSpot subscription at no additional cost, and many of its other AI features run on HubSpot Credits.

Both suit account managers whose company already runs on that CRM. Both start from what is in the CRM, so they are most useful when the records are current. Cordanis works beside either one: Salesforce or HubSpot stays the system of record.

The table describes each tool in the terms its own site uses, as of November 1, 2026. A customer success platform, a notetaker and the CRM's AI can sit side by side, because each does a different job.

Growing the accounts you own: where Cordanis fits

Cordanis is the workbench for account executives, and it suits the account manager whose job is to sell more into the accounts they already own. It is built for growth inside a book, not for retention across a customer base.

Cordanis keeps a record of each account from your team's mail, meetings and CRM. The Book shows where no one at the top of an account knows you. Cordanis finds the executives there you haven't met, through its own people data, or through Apollo when your team has connected it, and proposes them for you to approve. One ask writes the pursuits, each from the account's thesis: what matters to them, where the business is going and why you.

Each step is written from the account in the voice you approved. It waits for you, written in full, and sends only when you approve it, from your own Gmail or Outlook mailbox. A reply stops the rest of the sequence. Before a meeting, Cordanis sees it on your calendar and writes a brief from the account. Meetings and replies land on the account, and the record is shared with the account's team.

Cordanis is not a customer success platform. It has no health scores, no renewal workflows and no churn prediction. Gainsight and Planhat also cover expansion where a customer success team runs it. If your job is measured on retention, choose Gainsight, ChurnZero, Planhat or Vitally. If it is measured on growth in the accounts you own, Cordanis is built for that work.

Questions

Is Cordanis a customer success platform?

No. Cordanis has no health scores, no renewal workflows and no churn prediction. It suits the account manager who sells more into existing accounts, and it can sit beside a platform such as Gainsight, ChurnZero, Planhat or Vitally.

Should an account manager choose Clari or Gong for existing accounts?

They overlap. Gong leads with recorded conversations, says it flags churn risk from sentiment, ghosting and stakeholder changes, and also sells Gong Forecast. Clari, part of Salesloft since December 2025, leads with the forecast, and Salesloft also lists conversation intelligence. If retention is the job, compare both with a customer success platform.

Is Salesforce Agentforce good for account managers?

It is a sensible first step if your accounts live in Salesforce, because it reads the records already there. The alternatives depend on the job: a customer success platform for renewals, a notetaker for calls, or Cordanis for growing the accounts you own.

How should an account manager decide which accounts to work on each morning?

Start with what changed: replies that need an answer, meetings today and renewals coming due. Then look for accounts where no one at the top knows you. Cordanis catches replies and has briefs ready before meetings, and its Book shows where those gaps are.

How is Cordanis priced?

Cordanis is priced per seat, with usage included. Beyond that, a team shares a pool, and the admin sets the limits.
